Certification Tracks
The AI-Native SAFe Certification program is structured around three role-aligned tracks. Each track is designed to match the scope of decisions, the nature of AI integration work, and the accountability level of practitioners operating within a scaled agile enterprise. Organizations may enroll individuals in a single track or pursue cross-functional cohort enrollment across all three simultaneously.

All three tracks share a common foundation module on AI literacy and responsible deployment before diverging into role-specific content. This ensures a consistent organizational vocabulary regardless of where practitioners enter the program.
Curriculum Modules
The curriculum is organized into six learning modules that build sequentially. Each module combines self-paced asynchronous content with facilitated live sessions. Competency checkpoints gate progression between modules, ensuring practitioners demonstrate applied understanding before advancing rather than completing passive consumption alone.
- Module 1 — AI Foundations for SAFe Practitioners: Large language model fundamentals, generative AI capabilities and constraints, organizational risk taxonomy, and responsible AI principles as applied within regulated and mission-critical enterprise environments.
- Module 2 — Integrating AI Tooling into Team Ceremonies: Practical patterns for embedding AI assistance into backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and definition-of-done criteria without eroding human judgment or team accountability.
- Module 3 — ART-Level AI Readiness and Governance: Designing AI readiness assessments across a Release Train, establishing guardrails for model output validation, managing cross-team AI dependency risks, and integrating AI toolchain decisions into the Continuous Delivery Pipeline.
- Module 4 — PI Planning in an AI-Augmented Environment: Adapting Program Increment planning sessions when generative tools participate in scenario modeling, capacity forecasting, and dependency mapping — including facilitation techniques that preserve alignment and psychological safety.
- Module 5 — Portfolio AI Strategy and Value Stream Impact: Aligning AI investments to portfolio epics and lean business cases, measuring AI-driven cycle time reduction and flow metrics, and building the organizational muscle to sunset AI tooling that fails to deliver measurable value.
- Module 6 — Capstone: Applied AI Transformation Case: Practitioners develop and present a structured AI integration proposal for a real or representative value stream within their organization, evaluated against a published rubric by a certified assessor panel.
Delivery Cadence
The program is offered in two delivery formats to accommodate enterprise scheduling constraints and practitioner learning preferences. Both formats carry identical certification weight and access to the same assessor panel and practitioner community.

Cohorts open on a quarterly basis aligned to SAFe Program Increment boundaries, making it straightforward to synchronize enrollment with existing PI cadences. Cohort sizes are capped at 24 practitioners to preserve the quality of assessor feedback and peer learning during live sessions. Organizations enrolling 12 or more practitioners from a single value stream may request a dedicated private cohort with scheduling flexibility outside the standard quarterly windows.
Enterprise Enrollment
For organizations seeking to build AI-native capability at scale across multiple Release Trains or business units, the program offers a structured Enterprise Enrollment pathway. This is not a volume licensing arrangement — it is a coordinated implementation engagement designed to embed the certification program within a broader transformation operating model.
What Enterprise Enrollment Includes
- Transformation Readiness Assessment: A structured pre-enrollment diagnostic that maps current AI tooling maturity, SAFe implementation health, and organizational change capacity across the participating value streams. Findings inform cohort composition and sequencing recommendations.
- Dedicated Cohort Configuration: Private cohorts scheduled to align with your PI cadence, with facilitators briefed on your organizational context, tooling stack, and transformation objectives prior to kickoff.
- Cross-Track Coordination: Where organizations are enrolling practitioners across multiple tracks simultaneously, a coordination layer ensures that Transformation Leads, RTEs, and Practitioners are working through compatible framing and shared vocabulary — preventing misalignment between organizational levels.
- Executive Briefing Package: A structured narrative for sponsors and steering committees that articulates program outcomes, expected capability uplift, and how certification milestones connect to portfolio-level AI transformation objectives.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this certification recognized by Scaled Agile, Inc.?
The AI-Native SAFe Certification is issued by Implementing SAFe and reflects our practice’s proprietary curriculum built on top of the SAFe framework. It is not a Scaled Agile, Inc. credential. Practitioners who complete the program receive a certification that is recognized by member organizations within the Implementing SAFe practitioner network and is designed to complement, not replace, existing SAFe certifications.
What happens if a practitioner cannot complete a module within the cohort window?
Practitioners who miss up to one live session per module may access the recorded session and complete a written reflection exercise as a substitute. Those who fall more than one module behind their cohort are offered a one-time transfer to the next available cohort at no additional charge, provided the gap is reported before the midpoint of the program.
Does the capstone require access to live organizational data or tooling?
No. The capstone case can be built around a representative or anonymized value stream. Practitioners in sensitive industries — including defense, financial services, and healthcare — regularly complete the capstone without exposing proprietary systems or data. The assessment rubric evaluates the quality of analysis and the coherence of the proposed integration approach, not the operational specifics of any particular tooling environment.
How does certification remain current as AI tooling evolves?
Certifications carry a two-year active status. Renewal requires completion of a single-day continuing education session covering material updates to the curriculum. The curriculum itself is reviewed and updated on a semi-annual basis by the Implementing SAFe content council, ensuring that the frameworks and patterns practitioners learn reflect the current state of enterprise AI deployment — not a snapshot from the year they enrolled.
Can organizations integrate this certification into their internal talent and L&D frameworks?
Yes. Enterprise enrollment clients receive a certification framework brief suitable for integration into internal competency models, role progression frameworks, and learning management systems.
